SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- It's been over a decade since there was a world title fight in San Francisco. It is considered a risk for a boxing promoter to bring a big fight to a city that is not typically known for hosting major events -- in contrast to Las Vegas, Los Angeles or New York. However, it seems that the decision to bring the WBC super lightweight world championship to The City will pay off. Nearly 9,000 tickets have been sold for Devin Haney's title fight against Regis Prograis at Chase Center on Dec. 9, event promoter Eddie Hearn told reporters in San Francisco earlier this week. Hearn added those numbers are from the first week since tickets went on sale. Two Oakland natives team up to win a world title Promoters, especially one like Hearn whose company Matchroom is based out of England, weren't sure what kind of appetite fans in San Francisco would have for boxing. With seven weeks until the fight, Hearn said he "would be surprised" if the event didn't sell 14,000 ticke...San Leandro High School robotics team takes top prize at UC Berkeley competition

NEW DELHI (AP) — The Indian government on Friday rejected any notion that it violated international law in asking Canada to recall diplomats so that both governments have roughly the same number stationed in each country. Canada said Thursday it was recalling 41 of its 62 diplomats in India after what it said was New Delhi’s warning that it would strip their diplomatic immunity — something Canadian officials characterized as a violation of the Geneva Convention. The back-and-forth comes amid a spat between the two countries over Canada’s allegation that India was involved in the assassination of a Sikh separatist in Canada.India had not publicly stated it would withdraw diplomatic immunity from the Canadian diplomats, nor did it give a deadline for their departure. But it said it wanted Canada to reduce its number of diplomats in India to match the amount that India has in Canada.“We reject any attempt to portray the implementation of parity as a violation of international norms,” I...San Diego FC unveils its name, logo and colors ahead of its 2025 MLS debut
