Police clear scene after 'suspicious package' report near Austin jail, no threat detected

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Police began investigating a scene near the Blackwell Thurman Criminal Justice Center in downtown Austin after a "suspicious package" was reported in the area. According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, a call came in around 8 a.m. about the package, which was placed behind the central booking area outside the building. At 10:24 a.m., TCSO said the scene was cleared, and there was no threat.The roads in the area were blocked while officials investigated. The Austin Police Department and TCSO are investigating to make sure it's nothing dangerous, TCSO said. According to TCSO, a suspect is already in custody. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Jacob Klein, the man accused of torturing and murdering a physician's assistant last year, will represent himself in his upcoming trial, NEWS10 has learned. SCHOHARIE COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schoharie man pleaded guilty to selling drugs, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Naseem Pass, 25, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. VALLEY PARK, Mo. -- A woman died in a fatal crash near 141 at I-70 Friday morning. St. Louis County Police are currently investigating the collision.Police were called to the Earth City Expressway at I-70 for a crash at around 7:45 a.m. They discovered an accident involving a minivan and a silver Ford SUV.Investigators believe that the minivan was going the wrong way on 141 when it struck the SUV. The woman in the minivan was taken to the hospital. She has serious but not life-threatening injuries.The identities of the victims have not yet been released. The owner of a downtown Los Angeles gym says she was told by her landlord recently to remove an iconic mural dedicated to Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, and she's asking for public support in opposing the order.The mural outside Hardcore Fitness at 400 W.
