State prosecutors have urged the Minnesota Supreme Court to reject former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin’s request to reconsider his conviction for murdering George Floyd, saying lower courts already got it right.Chauvin’s attorney asked the state’s highest court last month to hear the case after the Minnesota Court of Appeals rejected his arguments that he had been denied a fair trial. A three-judge panel in April affirmed his conviction for second-degree murder and his 22 1/2-year sentence. More women have come forward to accuse a Denver cardiologist of drugging them without their knowledge before sexually assaulting them. Stephen Matthews, 35, was arrested March 22 for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a woman, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office. Matthews was charged with three felonies in that case.By May 16, the number of victims had risen to ten. The allegations and charges were combined into one case, and 16 felony charges were filed against the defendant at that time.On Wednesday, the district attorney’s office said that Matthews now faces 34 felony counts involving 16 victims. Mysterious food deliveries are showing up in a Highland Park neighborhood, with residents receiving lattes, burgers and other food they never ordered or paid for.The neighborhood is no stranger to the phenomenon, however, having been bombarded with random deliveries back in March before a slight pause.Now residents say the unsolicited deliveries are showing up at their doorsteps once again.
