JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri State Auditor says he may file a lawsuit against St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick said she’s not handing over the information he needs to complete the audit to see if her office is wasting taxpayers' money. He said he’s been after certain documents for some time now and has given the Circuit Attorney’s Office deadlines. He said he'd run out of patience.“If we don’t received that in the next week or so, then we will be going to court," Fitzpatrick said. "We basically have to file a lawsuit to enforce the petition in court, where a judge would essentially order the Circuit Attorney’s Office to comply with the subpoena, and if they fail to do that, we would have to go back to the judge and say they didn’t. Then the judge would have to determine if they were going to be held in contempt of court or what was going to happen there. So the next step is just going to court to enforce the subpoena and force them to comply with...Riders react to MetroLink train fatal shooting

It feels like Gordon Lightfoot has always been with me.I mean, was there ever a time when “Old Dan’s Records,” “Canadian Railroad Trilogy,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” Sundown” and “Cotton Jenny” weren’t my companions? I’m sure there was, but it doesn’t feel that way.His voice. Those words. My joy.Yet, it’s hard to feel joyful as I write this — just minutes after hearing the heartbreaking news that the folk-pop troubadour died Monday (May 1) at the age of 84. His cause of death was not immediately available.Without a doubt, Lightfoot will be remembered as one of the greatest songwriters of all time.Sure, that’s my opinion. But it’s also one that is shared by basically the entire country of Canada, which continued to hold its native son up in oh-so-high regard long after his star began to fade on this side of the border.Perhaps the best tell of this songwriter’s worth is to lo...Seventh-inning meltdown sends SF Giants to fourth straight loss in first game vs. Astros

HOUSTON — The Giants had won five of six when they headed for the high skies of Mexico City, but upon returning to sea level, they weren’t able to recapture their winning ways.Another late-inning meltdown by their bullpen sent the Giants to their fourth straight loss, 7-3, in their first of three games against the defending World Series champion Houston Astros. Here are a few observations.Bullpen problems: The game was tied at 2 when the seventh inning started. By the time it was over, the Giants had cycled through two pitchers — young long relievers, not seasoned high-leverage arms — and trailed 7-2. It was just the latest in their bullpen’s late-inning troubles. The Astros batted around, bringing 10 men to the plate, while scoring five against Sean Hjelle and Tristan Beck to blow a tied game wide open. With five more Monday, Giants relievers have now allowed 70 runs this season in the seventh inning or later, second-most in the majors. Why was it Hjelle and Beck, two pitch...Security guard accused of killing man at SF Walgreens will not be charged with murder, DA says

HOUSTON (AP) — Mauricio Dubón had three hits, highlighted by a tiebreaking RBI double in a five-run seventh inning, and the Houston Astros beat the San Francisco Giants 7-3 on Monday night. The game was tied at 2-2 with one on and one out when Dubón, who played for the Giants from 2019 until last May, smacked his double to right field off Sean Hjelle (1-1).“It was a big night for Dubón,” manager Dusty Baker said.
