CHICAGO -- Cleanup is underway areas around the Chicagoland area after storms swept across the city and suburbs overnight. Parts of the Chicago area were under severe thunderstorm warnings Friday night. Heavy rains, strong winds and light posts looked as if they were shaking in the 1700 block of Gulf Road. Stop lights were also flashing at Wolf and Feltonville road. Trees and powerlines crashed down in Niles and a large tree landed on a house in the 8200 block of Wisner Street. Residents of the home said they were home when the fall took place just before 11 p.m.National Weather Service reported that a tornado briefly touched down in Wheaton. GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Green Island man has been arrested following an assault investigation, according to police. James Cullinan, 52, is facing multiple charges. On July 15 at 3 a.m., police responded to a call from a residence near James Street by a woman stating she had been stabbed multiple times with a knife. Upon arrival, police found the victim with multiple lacerations to her arms. Officers located Cullinan outside the house and placed him into custody. He was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police investigating shooting in Troy Cullinan was processed and arraigned at the City of Watervliet Court. He was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility and is due to appear at the Village of Green Island Court at 10 a.m. on July 19.The victim was treated for her injuries at Samaritan Hospital. The Homeless World Cup was staged in the United States for the first time in the tournament’s history this week. The five-day tournament, which comprises of teams from around the world whose players were once homeless, took place at California State University, Sacramento and featured 300 players from 40 different national teams. Among the participating nations was Ukraine, whose players include refugees displaced by the ongoing conflict with Russia. According to the participants themselves, the tournament does more than just get them off the street. One person was killed and at least three others wounded in three unrelated shootings in Antioch overnight Friday, police said.At around 2:11 a.m. Saturday morning, officers were downtown when they heard gunshots and a crowd of people running near a bar and restaurant on I Street. One man was shot multiple times and killed, and at least two others, including a woman found shot on West First Street, were wounded but expected to survive, police said. A total of 60 shell casings were found in the area.While officers were at the homicide scene, another shooting happened around 2:51 a.m. in the 2100 block of Lemontree Way.
