It goes without saying that the coronavirus pandemic sparked a wave of uncertainty across myriad industries, and no other market has quite felt its impact like that of real estate. The pandemic became a driving force behind the continued real estate boom, with high demand for vacation homes and a limited supply of housing that prompted buyers and investors to bid up prices for affordable properties, causing home prices to skyrocket. By BILL BARROW, JEFF AMY, JILL COLVIN and MEG KINNARD (Associated Press)COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump blasted his historic federal indictment as “ridiculous” and “baseless” Saturday during his first public appearance since the charges were unsealed, painting the 37 felony counts as an attack on his supporters as he tried to turn dire legal peril to political advantage.Speaking at a Republican state convention in Georgia, Trump cast his indictment by the Department of Justice as an attempt to damage his chances of returning to the White House as he campaigns for a second term.“They’ve launched one witch hunt after another to try and stop our movement, to thwart the will of the American people,” Trump alleged, later telling the crowd that, “In the end, they’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you.”The strategy is a well-worn one for Trump, who remains the front-runner for the 2024 GOP...Rockies Journal: Jon Gray fulfilling great expectations with Texas Rangers

Great expectations have stalked the “Gray Wolf” since the Rockies made him the third overall pick out of Oklahoma in the 2013 draft.A 100 mph fastball and knifing slider had Jon Gray ticketed for stardom. Despite flashes of brilliance, that never happened in Colorado. He finished his career here with a 53-49 record, 4.59 ERA, and track record of not pitching well in big games. But 10 years after he was drafted — one spot behind Kris Bryant, by the way — Gray is pitching like the ace everyone kept waiting for him to become. The 31-year-old right-hander has made 12 starts for the powerhouse Rangers, going 6-2 with a 2.32 ERA and 0.964 WHIP.“I have never felt this confident on the mound. I’ve never been in a better place,” Gray said Saturday during a phone interview from Tampa, where the Rangers (40-22 and leading the AL West) were playing the Rays (47-19, first in the AL East).“Right now, I just never get worried out there, no matter the situation I&...Kickin’ It with Kiz: Broncos betting $5.5 million Frank Clark will do more damage to opposing QBs than the team’s culture

Historically speaking, the Broncos getting edge rusher Frank Clark from the Kansas City Chiefs feels more like signing cornerback Dale Carter instead of defensive lineman Neil Smith. Bad guys are bad guys and have a bad effect on a team.Rob, AFC West historianKiz: While grabbing a talented player from the Kansas City Chiefs seems like a smart way to do damage to a division rival, it hasn’t always worked out for the Broncos. Smith seamlessly fit in with a team ready to win back-to-back Super Bowls in the 1990s. Carter, whose off-field problems were no secret when Denver acquired him in ’99, is a candidate for the worst free-agent signing in franchise history. Clark was suspended by the league for two games last season for two separate incidents involving firearms a year earlier. There’s no doubt Clark can make the life of a quarterback miserable. What impact he will have on the team’s culture is less certain.OMG, yes, the Broncos should find a way to sign runn...1 man killed; 2 teens injured in possible gang-related shooting in Azusa
