TEMPS TO FLIRT WITH/REACH 80 WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY—TEMPERATURE DOWNTURN TO ARRIVE THIS WEEKENDTemperatures this week are to average 14-degrees warmer than last week and an eye-catching 18-degrees above normal. Not since late last September—nearly 7 months ago—have back to back 80-degree temps occurred here. So we can check that box in terms of warm temps in the days ahead.Second—and right up there in importance—is producing a strong enough westerly flow to hold the layer of colder, denser air which sits over the STILL COOL WATERS of Lake Michigan which currently average 43.6-degrees. We can check that box too, because a strengthening pressure gradient is to produce a well developing s...

Diamond Miller is no stranger to thriving with new teammates. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard stayed at the University of Maryland for her senior season in 2022-23, even as a number of her teammates, including LSU standout Angel Reese, transferred out.Playing with a roster that included nine new players in all, she averaged 19.7 points per game and led the Terrapins to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. That performance helped make her an obvious choice for the Minnesota Lynx with the second overall pick of Monday night’s WNBA draft.Which means Miller now joins a team rebuilding after missing the playoffs in 2022 — a season that also saw the retirement of standout center Sylvia Fowles, the team’s leader and a part of the final two of their four WNBA championships.“There are always changes that are going to come,” said Miller, a second-team All-American and All-Big Ten first-team pick. “But what has to stay solid is your confidence in who you are a...
