Go figure… another wet day in southern New England. It’s been the theme of the month, the summer, and the year. We’re in quite a water surplus for the month of September, going back to June 1st, and going back to January 1st. Thankfully the rain will wind down today, but it’s not until later so it’s cloudy and wet all day long today. Showers will end north to south late this afternoon and evening. Not only is it cloudy and wet today, but we’ll keep the onshore wind that could get pretty gusty on the coast. So it’s just another raw day today. Thankfully improvements start as soon as tomorrow.High pressure will start to push in from our north. As that happens we’ll see baby steps of improvements through the next couple of days. The first improvement is the rain. The rain will push south overnight and finally dry us out for the rest of the week. Even though the rain pushes south tomorrow, a lot of the clouds will hold tight, especially in ...Police investigating after vehicle slams into utility pole in Revere

A month after two women were hit by gunfire while sitting in the bleachers during a White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field, the shooting that stunned the city and made news around the country appears no closer to being solved than it was in the hours after the incident, sources said.Rumors and hearsay, peddled largely by content aggregators on social media, have done little to quell speculation about the shooting — which, in the nearly 150-year history of Major League Baseball, is believed to be perhaps just the fourth instance of a fan being shot while inside a big league ballpark.Investigators have been weighing whether the woman who sustained the more severe injuries was somehow able to bring a gun into the stadium that later discharged while she was in the left field bleachers, according to police sources not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation. That woman has not been cooperative with Chicago Police Department investigators in the weeks since she was sho...Thousands of Armenians flee Nagorno-Karabakh as Turkish president visits Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — Thousands of Armenians streamed out of Nagorno-Karabakh after the Azerbaijani military reclaimed full control of the breakaway region while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Azerbaijan Monday in a show of support to its ally. The Azerbaijani military routed Armenian forces in a 24-hour blitz last week, forcing the separatist authorities to agree to lay down weapons and start talks on Nagorno-Karabakh’s “reintegration” into Azerbaijan after three decades of separatist rule. A second round of talks between Azerbaijani officials and separatist representatives began in Khojaly Tuesday following the opening meeting last week. While Azerbaijan pledged to respect the rights of ethnic Armenians in the region and restore supplies after a 10-month blockade, many local residents feared reprisals and said they were planning to leave for Armenia. The Armenian government said that 4,850 Nagorno-Karabakh residents had fled to Armenia as of midday Monday.“I...Amazon is investing up to $4 billion in AI startup Anthropic in growing tech battle

Amazon is investing up to $4 billion in Anthropic and taking a minority stake in the artificial intelligence startup, the two companies said Monday. The investment underscores how Big Tech companies are pouring money into AI as they race to capitalize on the opportunities that the latest generation of the technology is set to fuel. Amazon and Anthropic said the deal is part of a broader collaboration to develop so-called foundation models, which underpin the generative AI systems that have captured global attention. Foundation models, also known as large language models, are trained on vast pools of online information, like blog posts, digital books, scientific articles and pop songs to generate text, images and video that resemble human work. Under the agreement, Anthropic is making Amazon its primary cloud computing service and using the online retail giant’s custom chips as part of work to train and deploy its generative AI systems. San Francisco-based Anthropic was founded...Motorcyclist killed in crash involving transport truck in Brampton

The attacks have destroyed silos, warehouses, oil terminals and other infrastructure critical for storage and shipping. In the south, Russian forces dropped bombs and launched six heavy artillery strikes on Kherson, destroying a school and factory and damaging residential buildings.
